Please introduce yourself
My name is Moritz Gerling and I live near Heidelberg in the beautiful southwest of Germany with my wife and my 3-year-old son. My current position is Regional Field Manager.
When did you join MDLZ? And why did you choose to join MDLZ?
My Mondelēz journey began over 11 years ago as a Sales Representative. After completing my training as "retail salesman", I began searching new opportunities. A friend of mine worked for Mondelēz at that time. He told me that Mondelēz was looking for a Sales Representative in Landsberg (Bavaria). The reputation and products convinced me to apply immediately. I also accepted to move from home (and that was worth it.) After about a year I had the chance to move back to my hometown.
What is your current role and what makes it exciting?
My current role is Regional Field Manager in the southwest of Germany and I am responsible for 13 Sales Representatives. The greatest thing is working with 13 different people/characters and growing together and learning from each other every day. I am also the sales channel coordinator for REWE and Globus (two of the biggest German chains of grocery stores)- so I am the link between key account and the field. The job presents new challenges every day and is never boring.
What personal qualities or skills make you successful in your position?
The most important characteristics are openness, comprehension and empathy. This is how you manage to form your team as a unit and thus achieve every goal. In addition, the fun in a team should never be neglected.
How has your career developed at MDLZ?
I started out as a Sales Representative and then began an evening course of study to earn a bachelor's degree in business administration. After completing my studies, the next step was Regional Key Account manager. After about 3 years I decided to take the next career step to become a Regional Field Manager.
What kind of project, assignments have you done outside of the traditional career moves that helped you further your career?
As a regional key account manager, I was given the opportunity to support the National Key Account Manager at Edeka in Bremen in preparing and concluding the annual review.
How do you describe the culture at MDLZ?
The first things that would immediately come to mind are:
- -Mondelēz is like a big family, and everyone looks after each other and is also very supportive.
- -Open exchange among each other
- -Living and implementing a feedback culture
- -Experience and celebrate beautiful moments and success together
What is your view on working from home, a hybrid model and the way MDLZ handles this?
As a field worker who works from home and is very flexible, I can only recommend a hybrid model to increase employee motivation. This way, each employee can plan their own day and is more flexible and better able to adapt to their needs.
And finally, why do you continue to choose MDLZ?
I am personally very happy at Mondelēz and feel valued at all times and share the vision and passion for the products. I also appreciate the opportunity to grow, personally and professionally.
