Tell us about yourself and your role at Mondelēz International.
My name is Eduard Alexandru Alexe, I’m originally from Bucharest, Romania, and I moved to Bratislava, Slovakia, 8 years ago. I`m currently a CMaaS Raw Materials Team Leader at Mondelēz European Business Services Center (EBSC), I oversee a team of ten people, ensuring smooth operations, high performance, and alignment with company standards.
My role involves managing daily tasks, optimizing workflows, and fostering a collaborative environment. I focus on clear communication, delegating responsibilities effectively, and providing constructive feedback to help my team grow every day. Given the fast-paced nature of the industry, I prioritize adaptability, problem-solving, and efficiency to meet business objectives while maintaining high-quality standards. Beyond day-to-day operations, I work on improving processes, coaching my team, and ensuring we meet both company goals and stakeholders’ expectations.
How would you describe your career path?
I started my first role in Mondelēz in 2019 in the CMaaS Department as a Buying Support Analyst in the Packaging Team, where I focused on building a strong foundation, developing my skills, learning SAP, and taking on new challenges. Through dedication, a willingness to learn and great mentorship, I gradually progressed into Buying Support Specialists. One of the key lessons I have learned along the way is that success isn’t just about individual performance but about collaboration, adaptability, and the ability to support and develop others. Reaching CMaaS Team Lead position has been a rewarding journey, and I continue to grow by learning from my team and embracing new challenges. My goal is to create an environment where others can also develop and thrive, just as I did.
Could you give us a closer look at CMaaS team?
CMaaS stands for Contract Management as a Service, and we are providing the service from 3 business locations globally: from Manila, Philippines, San José, Costa Rica, and for the MEU Region, from Bratislava, Slovakia. We are supporting the Procurement function in the Direct Materials, and our team is structured into 3 sub-teams as per Materials: starting with Direct Materials - Packaging & External Manufacturing & CoPack, Raw (Ingredients, Commodities, and Dairy).
We are also covering operations for the Indirect Materials in the area of Maintenance Repair Operating supplies (MRO). Our MEU team has 40+ team members, and we are the most diverse group from Mondelēz Bratislava with colleagues from across the world, which makes us such a unique and amazing group to be part of.

What was the most significant challenge you experienced when you transitioned to a Team Lead role?
One of the biggest challenges I have faced transitioning into a leadership role was shifting from an individual contributor mindset to a leadership mindset. Initially, I had to learn how to balance my responsibilities while also providing guidance and support to my team. To overcome this, I focused on delegation, clear communication, and fostering a collaborative environment. I also made a conscious effort to listen to my team, understand their strengths, and provide constructive feedback to help them grow. Over time, this not only allowed me to focus on strategic priorities, but also ensured both individual and team success.
How would you describe Mondelēz International’s culture?
Our culture is diverse and unique, and that’s what makes it such a great place to be part of. Each and all of us are passionate about our individual set of skills that collectively come together to form a fantastic team synergy, we all learn from each-other, support whenever needed.
