The main role of VAT Manager is to oversee & manage all VAT compliance processes across the countries assigned to the incumbent, and to ensure compliance with the applicable VAT laws and the Mondelez indirect tax policy. VAT Manager reviews/ approves the VAT returns and associated declarations for all Mondelez entities under his/her remit and also has to ensure timely and accurate reporting to the management and external authorities. In addition the VAT Manager shall manage all VAT inspections performed by local tax authorities, and closely interact with the local and regional direct tax departments on common direct and indirect tax inspections. The VAT Manager leads VAT related projects (such as for example implementations required because of legislative changes) and the VAT work-stream in other strategic projects (such as for example mergers, acquisitions or divestitures), either Performing coordination in testing/projects/various ad-hoc tasks. Bringing ideas for simplification and harmonization of VAT processes into practise. 

How you will contribute

  • Oversight of VAT compliance for selected EU countries
  • Ensure quality and legal compliance in the area of VAT
  • Approve VAT returns and other associated tax and statistical declarations
  • Manage and coordinate approval of VAT payments
  • Manage local VAT inspections and provision of VAT relevant documents to tax inspectors
  • Drive for harmonization and simplification in all VAT processes
  • Monitor legal requirements (requires extensive knowledge of all local VAT laws and the related accounting rules)
  • Coordinate and actively support on VAT matters in strategic projects
  • Advice other functions on VAT legal matters, processes and procedures
  • Provide VAT trainings to other functions/departments as appropriate

What you will bring

  • Sound knowledge of VAT in Europe, at least 3 years working experience in the area of VAT
  • Strong  understanding and knowledge of SAP
  • English language – fluent
  • Good level of MS Office – Word, Excel, Power Point​

This role is primarily open for full-time employment. However, we are also open to considering exceptional candidates for part-time contract (75%).

The responsibilities of this position are performed within the framework of a regional business model that is defined and managed by Mondelēz  Europe GmbH, Switzerland .
