This strategic role partners with our Ventures business leaders, cross-functional teams at Mondelēz International and external vendors and agencies to accelerate business growth of existing $1B+ Venture Portfolio.

Role Description

Our organization has an opening for a business savvy, highly analytical, and detail-oriented candidate to join our North American Ventures Strategy & Commercial team.  This Manager understands how consumers’ preferences are changing and the macrotrends that are shaping their decision-making. This thought leader will use primary and secondary research to understand and break down snacking categories to leverage this knowledge to identify how existing Venture businesses can optimize performance to maximize growth.  This person will be an explorer & pioneer for our business with an entrepreneurial spirit!

This Manager, Strategy & Commercial, North America Ventures is a collaborative business partner, consumer-centric, and has a strong strategic mindset.  This person understands the inner workings of the food industry, has worked with business financials, and has demonstrated experience in helping brands grow.  This person is a resourceful strong leader who enjoys crafting / optimizing business models, testing hypotheses, storytelling, and influencing executives. This person can speak confidently and clearly with Venture CEOs and Senior Leaders on the USLT.  Most importantly, this person can turn insights into ACTION!

Key Responsibilities

Growth Strategy & Consumer Insights

  • Actively participate at conferences & expos to learn, first-hand, consumer trends & snacking competitors

  • Lead the identification of new growth opportunities in Ventures’ snacking categories

  • Consult with marketing and sales leadership to anticipate, formulate, and frame key business questions

  • Gather and analyze data, understand trends and patterns, identify foresight, construct story lines to deliver impactful/ implementable insights to influence actions – connect the dots between new insights and business opportunities to build out specific consumer-centric growth strategies

  • Integrate insights collaboratively with business teams throughout the complete brand/product life cycle, including brand strategy, communication strategy development, innovation pipeline development, pricing strategy, and in-market execution/assessment

  • Support some of the Venture business (e.g., Perfect Snacks, Hu, 7 Days, G&G, Tate’s and Enjoy Life Foods) leadership by leveraging strategic research and analysis to drive growth and meet AC targets

  • Help build out sales stories leveraging shopper insights and category management principles

  • Manage data providers/research partners, deploy and continuously perfect solutions

  • Train colleagues at Venture businesses on best practices within various areas of marketing and sales

Commercial Operational Strategy

  • Act as liaison between North America Ventures brands and Mondelēz International experts to improve key initiatives such as Brokers/ Distributors, Digital Commerce, and RGM/ PPA

  • Create new ways of working between Venture teams & Mondelēz support including regular cadence of communications

  • Identify short-term and long-term synergies between Ventures and Mondelēz  base business, and develop plan to realize synergies

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, MBA preferred

  • Passion and interest in the Food & Beverage/ Snacking world

  • 7 or more years of experience in consumer/shopper insights, management consulting or entrepreneurial & analytical role

  • Prior Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience preferred

  • Hypothesis building and testing, thought leadership and strategic thinking

  • A successful history of processing and extracting business insights from large, disconnected data sets

  • Strong technical skills required (i.e., Excel)

  • Strong ownership, project management and organizational skills with focus on results/ timelines

  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment

  • Strong story building and executive presentation capability – must be detail-oriented

  • Desire to progress and get promoted through the organization

  • Strong influencing and communication skills

  • The role can be a hybrid working approach from East Hanover, NJ
