Global population growth, industrialization and climate change means the world’s water is under pressure, and at Mondelez International we are committed to using one of the world's most precious resources responsibly. We are playing our part by focusing where we can make the biggest difference. Updating our list of priority sites using the Aqueduct tool from World Resources Institute, we have changed our water scarcity threshold and increased the number of priority sites. We have also expanded our water scarcity assessment from manufacturing to an end-to-end approach beyond our own operations to include our commodities.

We have implemented various initiatives to optimize water use across the globe, including investments in a wastewater recycling system in Egypt, an optimized Clean-In-Place process in Brazil, improved maintenance program for heat exchangers in Germany and implementation of a modern wastewater recycling system that feeds cooling towers in China.
