Dad’s traces its origins to a lawyer named Alonzo Sturges who lived in Los Angeles, California in the 1920s. Sturges had two sons and a daughter. His daughter married a baker who developed a recipe for an exceptionally good oatmeal cookie. Sturges recognized the business potential in his son-in-law’s recipe and financed the construction of a manufacturing plant. To honor Mr. Sturges, the family decided to call the new cookie Dad’s. Dad’s flourished across Canada, renowned for the deliciously crunchy Oatmeal flavour Canadians since 1929. Today, they’re available in a variety of flavour combinations, textures and formats.
