Oreo

Oreo is milk’s favorite cookie. First introduced in 1912, this creme-filled sandwich cookie is currently being sold in many countries worldwide including the Unites States, Argentina, Canada, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Despite its American beginnings, Oreo has become a Filipino favourite through the years. The brand’s ritual of “twist, lick and dunk” has made bonding moments more memorable for families who love its smooth vanilla cream sandwiched between two crisp dark chocolate cookies.

In 2001, Oreo joined the roster of delicious Kraft Foods Philippines brands when a merger with the company Nabisco was completed. Today, the brand continues to help Filipinos connect through powerful yet simple ways and by inciting childlike delight from both young and old.

The “twist, lick and dunk” ritual shows the best way to enjoy an Oreo cookie. Many children, joined by their mothers and fathers, have twisted an Oreo to reveal its vanilla cream center. In a moment of childlike delight, young ones and those young at heart like to lick of the sweet and delicious cream. This, right before the Oreo is dunked into a glass of milk to savour the taste of the dark chocolate cookie, and the moment of pure enjoyment.

Only Oreo can turn ordinary moments into an instant of childlike delight. Its campaigns and brand activities are therefore centered on creating opportunities for families and friends to bond. Most recently Oreo held a “Dunk for a Cause” event in 2010 for families in Quezon City.

This was a basketball dunking activity wherein participants were given 60 seconds to do as many as they could. Each dunk signified a contribution to the Gabay ng Landas (GALA) foundation to buy a playground for its residents. More than 50 child scholars of the Foundation in Marikina City now enjoy the donation. Oreo’s aim was that through the fun they have at the playground, residents can recognize the universal truth that real family isn’t just about blood, but also about bonding and togetherness.

Oreo is available in Vanilla, Double Stuff, Strawberry, Double Delight (Chocolate and Peanut Butter) and Blueberry Ice Cream flavours in 3-pack singles, and 68.5g, 137g, 152.4g, and 274g packs. Most recently Oreo introduced its P5 SRP pack in Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry flavours. This pack is mom’s ally in providing affordable snacks with its low price and 100 calorie content.
