Through the decades, Toblerone expanded its product line and underwent mergers with other food companies. Most noteworthy of these was the merger in 1990 with Philip Morris Companies Inc. The latter acquired the then Jacobs Suchard AG which made Toblerone, and in 1991 created Jacobs Suchard International as a unit of its Kraft General Foods business. In 2008 Toblerone celebrated the 100th year of its creation.
Here in the Philippines, Toblerone has created its own legacy among Filipinos. For years it was a preferred pasalubong among homecoming Filipinos for their loved ones. This has led Toblerone to become a popular “Thank You Gift.”
A year before its centennial, Toblerone began its series of “Thank You” Campaigns. This 2007 campaign popularized the question “Who do you want to thank today?” with its aim to make the Philippines a grateful nation once again.
In 2009, Toblerone took the campaign further by holding the “National Thank You Day” awards which gave homage to people like the late President Corazon C. Aquino whom every Filipino owes thanks to. The brand’s proposal to celebrate National Thank You Day every October 20 was also recognized by the City of Manila.
In 2010, Toblerone created an online board for people to remember that there are many other things in the Philippines to be thankful for. Memories of balut, or beautiful landscapes in the Philippines were only some that people posted on the site.
Toblerone is available in Milk Chocolate, White Chocolate, Fruit and Nut, and Dark Chocolate variants in 50g, 100g, 200g and 400g packs, and in mini-bags.
