Cadbury Dairy Milk

Cadbury Dairy Milk is one of the most popular premium chocolates in the world, transforming small occassions into moments of pure joy.

Cadbury Dairy Milk's delicious history started in 1824 when a young Quaker named John Cadbury opened a tea, coffee and cocoa shop in Birmingham in the United Kingdom. The shop prospered within 18 years and by the year 1842, John Cadbury was selling 11 kinds of cocoa and 16 kinds of drinking chocolate. His brother, Benjamin eventually joined him to form the Cadbury Brothers of Birmingham Company.

The business soon became a family empire when in 1864, the business was transferred to John’s sons, George and Richard. These two brothers set the standard for high quality of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates when they expanded the product line and launched, “Cadbury’s Cocoa Essence,” an all-natural product made with pure cocoa butter and no starchy ingredients.

The company expanded its product line even more in 1873 with various confectionery variants. Another Cadbury milestone happened in 1897 when the first milk chocolate was produced.

The decades that succeeded brought about many world firsts from Cadbury. It was in fact Cadbury that became the first company to include pictures instead of printed text on chocolate boxes. The small blocks in a Cadbury Dairy Milk bar were actually suggested by a Cadbury employee, and were pioneered in the industry by the Company.

Then major expansion began to happen. Cadbury merged with British beverage maker Schweppes in 1969 to form Cadbury Schweppes. The merged companies would go on to acquire Sunkist, Canada Dry, Typhoo Tea and more.

2003 presented another opportunity for Cadbury Schweppes to expand its product line. Acquired globally, the local Adams Philippines, a well-known candy manufacturing company merged with Cadbury Confectionery Philippines in May of that year. This made Cadbury an even stronger player in the confectionery market offering not only chocolate products, but also candies and gums. The merger brought with it popular brands such as Halls, Clorets, Chiclets and eventually Dentyne Ice.

Cadbury Confectionery Philippines, became Cadbury Adams (Philippines), Inc. (CAPI) in 2004. This marked Cadbury’s development from being a branch of Australia into having its own Philippine office.

The latest milestone for the company came in February 2, 2010 when Cadbury Dairy Milk became a delicious addition to the Kraft Foods Philippines family. The global acquisition of Cadbury paved the way for Filipinos to enjoy more sharing moments with the brand and strengthened Kraft Foods’ position as a snacks company.

Today Cadbury Dairy Milk transforms small occasions into moments of pure joy for Filipinos. It is available in Dairy Milk, Fruit & Nut, Hazelnut, Roast Almond, Chocolate Mousse and Hazelnut Praline flavours. Its packs are in 40g, 75g, 175g and 180g sizes.
