Heritage of Mondelēz International

Beginnings

Kraft Foods (Philippines), Inc. (KFP) is now a part of the Mondelēz International Group.

The Company has been making delicious food for the past five decades. Established in July 31, 1963, we began our manufacturing operations two years later on April 8,1965. The inauguration was a prestigious affair, with no less than then First Lady Eva Macapagal in attendance. The first products to come out of our Sucat, Parañaque City plant were Kraft Sandwich Spread, Kraft Real Mayo and Miracle Whip.

Thus began the great legacy of our brands which people have grown to love.

Through the years, we continued to widen its portfolio of delicious brands. The 1960s and 70s was a time of great expansion for Kraft Foods Philippines. 1967 marked the launch of Cheez Whiz in the Philippine market. In 1969 the first KFP exports were made to neighbouring Hong Kong. In fact from 1975 to 1976, KFP introduced 66 new SKUs (stock keeping unit) into the market.

At the beginning of the 80s, the Company began to distinguish itself globally by creating a truly Filipino brand: Eden Cheese. This beloved block cheese product was actually the first of its kind in the country, and started the trend of carton cheeses.

Growing Delicious

In 1989, Kraft Foods acquired General Foods Philippines and its products Tang, Kool-Aid Juicers, and Calumet Baking Powder. Incorporated in 1974, General Foods Philippines began as Franklin Baker Philippines (FBP) and was a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Foods USA.

1972 was monumental for General Foods as this was the year that the first jar of Tang powdered beverage rolled off the production lines. Two years later, Tang was officially sold in the mass market together with Calumet Baking Powder. From 1985 until 1989, Tang rapidly developed its variant and pack offerings, coming out with Pineapple and Grape flavors, and Tang Orange refill packs.

In 2001, Nabisco brands Chips Ahoy, Oreo and a host of other well-known brands were welcomed into the expanding portfolio of products. In February 2, 2010, Kraft Foods globally acquired Cadbury Chocolates and its portfolio of well-loved confectioneries.

Mondelēz International
Launched on Oct. 1, 2012, Mondelēz International is comprised of the global snacking and food brands of the former Kraft Foods Inc. Mondelēz International is a whole new company that has been reimagined with a single focus in mind: Create delicious moments of joy. We create life’s delicious moments by sharing the world’s favorite brands.

Sucat in Parañaque City continues to be our home and houses our offices, and cheese and grocery manufacturing plant. A National Distribution Center in Taguig City houses logistics and warehousing activities.

Joyful Brands
Today, we have strong leadership positions in the processed cheese market, in block and cheese spread, and in powdered beverages. We are also a strong competitor in the biscuits and confectionery categories.

Although we are a new company, our brands are as diverse and rich with heritage as the 170 countries in which we market our products. Consumers in nearly every corner of the world reach for the favorite brands we make, including Oreo and Tiger Energy biscuits; Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates and Halls candy; and Tang powdered beverages. And they all have one thing in common: They delight people all over the world. Read more about our products in the Brands section.

Creating delicious moments of joy for our people

While our dream is new, our goals and values remain the same. We create an open, inclusive environment where people love to come to work.

One step into our office shows just how committed we are to creating a joyful  workplace for our people. Our walls, rooms and facilities are colored by vibrant images to make our flexible work time more engaging. Employees do not even have to leave the office to spend some “me” time. Housed inside the office facility are a gym, basketball court, dance studio, sauna and spa, available for use of all employees. See our Joyful Workplace.

Fun runs, learning sessions, Halloween and kids’ workshops are just some of the activities that employees enjoy with their families. Work-life balance is more than an idea, it is a culture. We attract top professionals with our competitive salaries and benefits, but our great brands, talented people, inspiring leaders and global opportunities make them stay.

Sharing Joy
We do more than make delicious foods. We give back to the 80 countries where we operate. Our sustainability efforts meet the needs of the present generation without compromising those of the future. As such we have initiatives on energy conservation, ozone protection, water management, waste management, and reducing packaging use.

One way we share joy is through our community programs. In October 2010 we adopted a public elementary school for a five-year program to transform the institution into one of the top five in Parañaque City by 2015.

Our employees share our passion for giving back. They regularly participate in the Company’s many community activities. Read about our Responsibility initiatives.
