What is your current role, and how has your career developed at MDLZ?

I joined Mondelez International in 2019 as a Quality Process Engineer. This was my first time working within the chocolate industry and it was crucial for me to develop my technical knowledge on how chocolate is made in order to apply the ‘quality’ approach to this. I was also appointed to be the engineer for 5 lines within the factory including for some of our staple brands; Noblesse and Daim, as well as our most important line in the factory, mass making!

Through this role I was able to learn about chocolate making processes such as conching, refining, moulding and enrobing. In January 2022 I changed position, to become a Process Engineer and Continuous Improvement (CI) lead. This was a very exciting move for me, as I have an interest in leadership. Although I have only been in the role for a short amount of time, I have gained a lot of insight into how to lead my team with success, and I look forward to progressing further in this role!

What do you like about working at MDLZ, and what do you think is special about us?

For me it is the people, our culture, the diversity, and big range of products that brings joy to our consumers. We are like one big family!

The workplace culture within MDLZ and Manufacturing is fast paced, diverse, supportive and fun.

In terms of opportunities, working for a globally successful company and a major player in the FMCG industry is a privilege. It really opens up future opportunities for travel and expansion of my network on a global scale.

What are the positive challenges your job presents?

Working within manufacturing is very exciting as each day is different. It is unknown how many problems I will have to deal with or the scale of each of them. Additionally, working with a range of personalities can be a challenge. Within a fast-paced environment, communication is key and can be difficult to maintain/influence others. This is a learning that can always be developed through my career within the factory.

What is the most exciting project that you have worked on?

The Refinery project is an exceptional project to be a part of. It is a regional end to end project that provided a lot of challenges but most of all, success. I gained a lot of project management, technical and communication skills within this project and was a ‘great’ feeling of accomplishment when we completed the project phases.

What is your biggest learning experience since working with us?

The biggest learning is working with so many different people and managing their expectations when it comes to alignment / communication within my projects. It can be hard to balance many different projects simultaneously, especially as most projects involve a range of functions such as safety, engineering, quality and the leadership team.

A big learning from this has been to ensure you have written communication when important decisions are made, always going to senior stakeholders for support when necessary and to not take challenges too personally!

And finally, what is your favourite MDLZ brand?

Favourite brand is of course Marabou 😊
