Oreo Double Stuf Racing League “Showdown” Set for Jan. 18
East Hanover, N.J. (Jan. 15, 2009) –Two of football’s most famous winning quarterbacks will meet two tennis power players on the same playing field, as they answer a challenge raised during last year’s U.S. Open. On Jan.18, 2009, Peyton and Eli Manning and Venus and Serena Williams, both sibling members of the Oreo® Double Stuf™ Racing League, will come together in their second joint TV commercial to see which pair can twist, lick and dunk an Oreo Double Stuf cookie and glass of milk the fastest. The ad will air during the NFC Conference Championship game.
The Mannings helped launch the Oreo Double Stuf Racing League, or “DSRL,” in January 2008 and were joined by the Williams sisters in August. Since then, both sides have been practicing their “stuf” in anticipation of the “Ultimate Sibling Rivalry.”
“While we may have different athletic talents, one thing Peyton and I have in common with Venus and Serena Williams is our love for Oreo cookies and the fun, fond memories we’ve had since we were all kids,” said Eli Manning. “And while we’ve long admired the Williams sisters’ talent on the tennis court, we have experience on our side and expect to out-lick them when we take them on.”
“We may be the rookies, but when Serena and I play together, we typically win together. We had a good start to our DSRL career and look forward to twisting, licking and dunking our way to victory over the Manning brothers,” said Venus Williams.
Lick and Win
No matter which pair claims victory in the rivalry “showdown,” every DSRL fan has a chance to be a winner! Visitors to www.dsrl.com can enter for a chance to win a trip to Florida where they’ll be coached by the “DSRL pros” later this year. Ten people (divided into two 5-person teams)1 will get to flex their twisting, licking and dunking skills and join Peyton, Eli, Venus and Serena as members of a “Manning” or “Williams” team before competing together in a live lick-off. A $10,000 grand prize will be divided evenly between the winning team members.
Getting In On the Action
The DSRL is a different way to enjoy the classic Oreo cookie and milk ritual. All you need is an Oreo Double Stuf cookie, a glass of milk and a little friendly competition. To start, each person twists their cookie open and licks off all the crème. Then, each person shows their cookie to their opponent, dunks it, eats it and drinks the glass of milk. The first to finish wins! To join the Mannings and Williams as official DSRL members, visit www.dsrl.com to register. You can also check out behind-the-scenes footage from the ad the siblings shot together last year.
A Timeless Tradition
With its “twisting, licking and dunking” ritual, “Oreo and Milk” is a classic combination that has brought families and friends together for more than 95 years. For more information on the Oreo Double Stuf Racing League or to see the official sweepstakes rules, visit www.dsrl.com.
